Where can I find the Estus Flask upgrades?

In Dark Souls III, Estus Flask upgrades can be found throughout the game world. They are hidden in different areas, often behind secret walls or as rewards for completing specific quests. Exploring thoroughly and interacting with various NPCs is crucial to discovering these upgrades and improving your healing capabilities.

Firelink Shrine

You can find several Estus Flask upgrades throughout your journey in Dark Souls III. The first upgrade can be obtained in the hub area called Firelink Shrine. To get your initial upgrade, you need to speak with the Fire Keeper NPC. She will give you an Estus Flask Shard that you can then bring to Andre the Blacksmith, who is located in the same area. Andre will then use the shard to upgrade your Estus Flask, increasing the amount of health it restores each time you use it.

Exploration and Loot

Exploration is key in Dark Souls III when it comes to finding Estus Flask upgrades. Estus Flask Shards can be found throughout the game world, often hidden in hard-to-reach places or as loot drops from enemies. Make sure to thoroughly explore each area you come across, checking corners, caves, and rooftops for possible Shard locations. Additionally, defeating tough enemies or bosses can sometimes reward you with an Estus Flask Shard, so be sure to take on these challenges to increase your chances of finding upgrades.

Merchants and NPCs

Some merchants and NPCs in Dark Souls III also sell Estus Flask Shards. Keep an eye out for these opportunities to purchase upgrades for your Flask. Greirat of the Undead Settlement is one such merchant who sells Estus Flask Shards. By completing certain quests or helping specific NPCs, you may also be rewarded with Shard upgrades. Remember to interact with all characters you meet on your journey, as they may offer valuable items such as Estus Flask Shards as rewards for your assistance.

New Game Plus

If you have already obtained all the Estus Flask upgrades in your current playthrough, you may still be able to acquire more by entering New Game Plus. In Dark Souls III, starting a New Game Plus run allows you to replay the game with increased difficulty while retaining your character's progress. This includes keeping your upgraded Estus Flask and other items. By playing through New Game Plus cycles, you can collect additional Estus Flask Shards and further enhance your health-restoring capabilities.

Online Play and Covenants

Engaging in online play and joining certain covenants can also provide opportunities to obtain Estus Flask upgrades in Dark Souls III. By assisting other players as a phantom or by defeating invaders in PvP combat, you can earn rewards that may include Estus Flask Shards. Additionally, some covenants have Estus Flask-related benefits as part of their rewards system. Joining these covenants and fulfilling their requirements can grant you access to unique upgrades for your Estus Flask, enhancing its effectiveness in battle.
